Not that you’re going to see this just yet, as I’ve got to redirect the domain to here but I got sick of hosting blogs on my own site.  Now WordPress can do all the work!

Will there be a podcast?  Probably not, but I certainly need a place to vent about DCI that isn’ t the insane stupidity of DCP.  Srsly people, yelling at each other won’t accomplish anything.

Once again, we get DCI Central Illinois.  I like the lineup because it’s deeper than I had originally thought, but it’s still only the second weekend of competition.  This means that we’re going to get shows that are only 9 minutes long at the very worst, or shows with “fake endings” as the best case scenario.  There’s some World Class competitions in the area until the 4th, and then it’s a wasteland until Finals Week.

Part of we wants to stay home.  Why should I travel and pay for shows that aren’t Troopers and are fundamentally incomplete?  If I’m going to be watching all of them online every weekend, should I support unfinished work?

The only thing that would draw me into that show is the fact that Crown’s performing, but they haven’t even released their show concept yet.

Tickets go on sale for the Normal, IL show in a week.  I won’t be buying them just yet.

The big question will be where Capital Regiment ends up.  I hope they make it back in.

Well, duh.

Okay, the name of the show is Celtic Trinity.

Of course, I skipped to Troopers first.  Nice edit, well performed, and then this:

WTF?

I’m working on a DIY solution because I have the ballad on the CDs from this performance.  Once I’ve devised instructions, I’ll pass them along.

They’ve drop kicked the last show and have announced a new one.

Good for them.  Corps who try to put on a multi-year production usually don’t pull it off if they tell us that there is going to be a multi-year production.  The only corps to do it was Crossmen, and even then Part III was “eh”.  Remember Boston’s five-year plan to explore traditional music from every region of the country?  Neither do I.

Meanwhile, I’ll be sitting in the corner doing my best “The Birdcage” impression.

I’ve got two thoughts:

1. HA!  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!  HEE!  Your precious Madison Scouts are going against everything you hold dear!!!  You either have to get off your “OMGMADISONROXXORZ!!!!!” bandwagon and/or embrace the synth.

2. If even Madison is going electronic, is there even a point for the anti- people to still be in the activity?  You’re going to hate it.  Just let everything go and free the rest of us from the noise.

Despite my Madison Issues, I could care less if they’re using a synthesizer this summer.  It doesn’t matter to me, because I could care less in general about electronics.  Drum corps = higher marching and performance execution than any other similar format.  Drum corps is made of win, and no matter what people say about DCA or BOA or SDCA or ABCD, DCI will always win because it’s just a higher level of performance.

And the moment that everyone else accepts it and moves on, the more we can focus on things that matter instead of a decision made last year that you can’t change.

Today Capital Sound announced that they’re going to be inactive for another year.

Cascades are said to be working on the 2009 season, so there’s still a hope that they’ll be back.

No word on Southwind.  No word on Spartans.

I’m still thinking 22 corps for 2009, because I don’t think any of the other World Class corps are in trouble this year.

Good for them, even though the Regional/Quarterfinals lineup situation will continue to be crazy next summer.
